BECOME A VOLUNTEER
At Volunteers in Medicine, Chattanooga, every patient encounter is a story of care, compassion, and community—and none of it would be possible without our incredible volunteers. From the moment a patient walks through our doors, they are greeted by a team of six to eight dedicated individuals—screeners, nurses, physicians, and schedulers—all working together to bring comfort, healing, and hope.
Since opening in 2005, our volunteers have given more than 170,000 hours of their time, making over 84,000 patient visits possible. These are not just numbers—they represent lives touched, fears eased, and health restored. Every volunteer, whether medical or lay, contributes their unique skills and heartfelt attention, helping people when they need it most.
What unites our volunteers is more than their expertise—it’s their compassion. They thrive on connecting with others, offering care with dignity and respect, and showing genuine kindness to every patient who comes through our doors. Their positivity and commitment turn every visit into an experience of comfort, support, and hope.
We are always inspired by our volunteers, and we’re always looking for more hearts willing to serve. To join our mission, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle Turner, at 423-855-8220 or mturner@vim-chatt.org. Together, we can continue to make a difference—one patient, one visit at a time.
